Why you shouldn't apply for JAMB change of Course/Institution
What is JAMB change of Course/Institution?
What is JAMB change of Course/Institution?
JAMB change of Course/ Institution is a process created by the above named body to enable students change from their initially selected courses/institutions to other ones, provided they meet the required minimum mark which has been standardized at 180 over the years.
Students apply for this process either for the purpose of changing to a better Course/University on the completion of their JAMB exams or for the purpose of changing to a lower course/institution which may be due to several reasons.
But in most cases, students apply for JAMB’S change of course/ institution for the purpose of changing to what they feel is a better course/ university, and this is where this writing will be concentrating on.
Below are few of the reasons why you shouldn’t apply:
THE PROBLEMS/ DISADVANTAGES ASSOCIATED WITH JAMB CHANGE OF COURSE/ INSTITUTION
FORMBut in most cases, students apply for JAMB’S change of course/ institution for the purpose of changing to what they feel is a better course/ university, and this is where this writing will be concentrating on.
Below are few of the reasons why you shouldn’t apply:
Today, I will be sharing
with you some of the problems associated with changing your Course/ Institution through JAMB.
Firstly, what you must know about the course/institution you are changing to
is its competition state. What is the
competition level of the course/ institution you want to change to? This is an
important factor many jambites usually fail to remember when applying for a
change of course/institution form. If you fail to consider this factor at first
and you weren’t offered admission into the university, then you will have
yourself to blame, because you narrowed the chances of you gaining admission
that year by adding to an already populated course/institution. If you had
remained with the school you had chosen earlier, you might have been offered
admission. All students in Nigeria can’t be admitted into a particular
University as there are limited slots for students into them.
Secondly, if you
hadn’t chosen a particular course/university
at first, then why would you want to change to a better one, or was it not
better when you chose it. You chose the course yourself and studied at extreme
lengths to pass, you prepared for that particular course and that particular university
and not any other, so stay with it and continue with the enthusiasm you used in
passing it in JAMB.
Another important factor I would be
discussing is Parent Pressure. Are
you changing that particular course because your parents want you to study
another one? Don’t forget to ask yourself; are they the one’s studying it? You
are the one studying it, and you know what you can do, it’s a higher
institution not a secondary school, remember? Most parents get it wrong here by
forcefully attaching to their children what they don’t want. This particular factor has affected many
people in this part of the world even before entering Senior Secondary School
where some parents would decide what department they want their child to be, then
in the long run, that child fumbles in that department . Whose fault? Yours of
course. You have to discover yourself. It is your career, it’s better to make
yourself happy by bringing out the best you want in you. Don’t let anything
delay or keep you at home for another year after passing your JAMB brilliantly.
Are you the type
applying for JAMB change of
course/institution because of your Friend? Then you must be getting it
wrong totally. You are entirely different from your friends, and don’t be
surprised to see that your friend leave you behind. You must discover yourself
and don’t let other people’s choice destroy your plans. You have different
capabilities, so don’t compare yourself with anyone. It’s also cool when you
want to go to the same higher institution with your friend’s, but if it doesn’t
work out, don’t force it, because you will be doing yourself more harm than
good.
Another factor is
Fear. Don’t let anyone discourage you
by saying you can’t Study a good course with that your 220 or you can’t study
in a good university with that score. It’s a beautiful lie. Put in more effort
and be focused and let God be involved fully, then you will find yourself
studying that beautiful course and going to that university you have planned to
go.
Another thing is
having a Right Mindset. Always try to
bring out the best in whatever you do. As you have chosen that course or
University, bring out the best in it and eliminate thoughts like one course is
better than the other. The fact is that, you should get the right one for you.
Lastly, another
question you should ask yourself before applying for JAMB change of course is,’ am I really making the right choice’,
is this God’s plan for my life, because what matters most is God’s plans for
your life. Meditate on this and ask for God’s intervention and always put him
first.
BEST OF LUCK.
