While candidates await the release of the official cut-off
mark by JAMB for 2017, many candidates are hoping that the cut-off marks should
be one that will favour them, irrespective of what it may be.

A candidate that took part in the 2017 JAMB has suggested that the board should make the
official cut-off as described below;
Universities- 250
Polytechnics- 200
The reason for this suggestion according to him, is that,
often times many candidates just put in little effort to reach the 180 mark and
then count on “long leg” or “connection” to help them with gaining admission.
While candidates that studied quite hard to score 200 and above end up not
getting admission even when they deserve to.
Well, he has spoken well. But what he didn’t consider is
that there are also other candidates who scored well above 200 by hook or crook
while those, that studied hard got 180 or less.
So,we can’t deny the fact
that “long leg"and “connection” has negative roles they play in securing
admission in Nigeria,but this is certainly not the way to get over it.
What do you think?
