A group of people known as the Inter-society and SBCHROs
denies naming Ekweremadu, peter obi, Biafra(IPOB) sponsors. The group described the
event as malevolent.
IPOB Leader-Nnamdi kanu |
A group known as the Society for Civil Liberties and the
Rule of Law (Inter-society) and Southeast Based Coalition of Human Rights
Organisations(SBCHROs) has denied a report saying it named some elites in the
south east as sponsors of Biafra. The group said in a statement on Sunday, June
4, that it never named deputy senate president, Ike Ekweremadu, Governor Willie
Obiano of Anambra state, and former gov. of Anambra, Peter obi as all being
part of those funding the Biafra agitators.
The group made this denial after a publication on Daily
Times went viral, which supposedly associated Peter obi and others in the south
east as those funding the Biafra movement.
It can be recalled that Governor Willie Obiano was alleged
to have gifted car and cash gifts to the IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu in a report
by Daily Times. In the said report, the individuals, organizations listed here,
were those alleged to have been funding the Biafra agigators:

These patrons of the Biafra movement were diverting
resources meant for improving the lives of Nigerians to the Pro-Biafra groups
to finance their revolt. This was revealed according to the group.
Meanwhile, the
Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has warned against the re-arrest of of
Nnamdi Kanu. Saying it would be a big mistake on the part of the Federal
government and security operatives, because by so doing, the attention of the
world leaders will be drawn.
The pro-Biafra group
in a statement by its media and publicity secretary, Comrade Emma Powerful on
Sunday, June 4, said Nnmadi Kanu isn’t afraid of going to the prison a second.
The group, as
reported by Vanguard, said there was need to make the clarification, especially
for those who were calling for the re-arrest of the IPOB leader, Nnamdi for
allegedly flouting his bail conditions.
